Online now, the Australian suncare brand’s Unblock Screen SPF 50 will launch in Sephora stores in October—and more BEMT formulations will follow in 2027.
September 4, 2026
By: Melissa Meisel
Ultra Violette, the Australian suncare brand known for pairing SPF with skincare ingredients designed for daily wear, has made a stateside landing with the launch of Unblock Screen SPF 50 Breakout-Friendly Skinscreen.
The debut marks the first sunscreen in the US market to contain Bemotrizinol (BEMT), the broad-spectrum chemical filter approved by the FDA— and the first new sunscreen filter available to US formulators in more than 20 years.
Unblock Screen SPF 50 is available in the US now at ultraviolettespf.com and Sephora.com It Is expected to land in Sephora stores nationwide from Oct. 2, according to the brand.
Founded in Australia in 2019 by Ava Matthews and Bec Jefferd, Ultra Violette entered the US market in 2025 with a range of five products and is sold at Sephora stores, alongside additional retail partners.
Designed for acne-prone, oily and reactive skin types, Unblock Screen is a soft-matte, zinc-bemotrizinol SPF 50 sunscreen formulated to deliver broad-spectrum protection without contributing to breakouts or congestion, said the company. The non-comedogenic, non-acnegenic formula helps keep excess oil in check while blurring the appearance of pores.
“This is such a win for the US consumer,” Ava Matthews, co-founder of Ultra Violette, said about BEMT’s approval in the US. “It broadens the range of SPF formats available, allows for more elegant, cosmetically pleasing textures, and supports the kind of robust protection that matters for overall skin health including skin cancers, skin ageing, melasma and pigmentation. I am hopeful that BEMT’s categorization of GRASE is also going to help shift the broader conversation around chemical sunscreens, which are so often unfairly stigmatized despite all their many benefits.”
According to Jefferd, Ultra Violette has developed products using BEMT in its global range for almost a decade and has more BEMT-containing products in pipeline.
Ultra Violette is set to roll out a new product, Fave Screen, in January.
“We are incredibly proud to be the first to bring our SPF products formulated with bemotrizinol to Sephora and the wider US market. We have developed products using BEMT in our global range for close to 10 years, which is why we’ve been able to move fast not just with the launch of Unblock Screen, but with a pipeline of BEMT-powered products to soon follow.”
Fave Screen SPF 50 is billed as an “ultralight, brightening milky” sunscreen powered by 5% BEMT alongside niacinamide and vitamins C and E to visibly brighten, smooth and even skin tone. It can be used seamlessly under makeup, according to the brand.
The arrival of Fave Screen early next year will make Ultra Violette the only brand at Sephora offering two BEMT-powered sunscreens, reinforcing the brand’s position at the forefront of next-generation US sun care, the company contends.
